Documented my first oyster reaction. As previously mentioned in my other holiday post, we ate in a couple times and put the BBQ to good use. This post is a combination of a couple of BBQs we had on different nights. I thought I'd just bung em' all together. BBQ Numero 1: We headed down to the fish market where we bought tuna, prawns, oysters and squid. It doesn't get much fresher than this. For the tuna steaks, all we did was prep and season them with salt and pepper, then set aside until ready to cook. For the prawns and squid we skewered them and left them plain. They only needed 2 or 3 minutes on each side to cook. We rustled up a sauce consisting of lemon juice, salt, pepper, butter and oil. Great for dunking the prawns into. Time for the tuna steaks! I like mine pretty rare, just seared so these only took a minute on each side. Amazing. Then I tried my first oyster. I don't know what it is about them but they freak me out. I love mussels and clams and cockles etc but these look blurghhhh. They were €1 each. But I loved them! Bit of a weird texture but I would 100% have them again. BBQ Numero 2: This was more of a meat based meal. We did have chicken skewers and pork but I didn't get any good photos of these, apologies. Pickled-style octopus while we waited for the BBQ to heat up. Then padrón peppers with salt to start. Sea bass with lemons. Steaks. These were a fraction overdone, but still had that lovely charred taste. I'm all BBQ'd out now.
