I have begun the long and treacherous journey searching high and low throughout London in order to find the best burgers. I started my lengthy expedition at Shake Shack, Covent Garden. I met up with one of my oldest pals Naomi and decided to hit up Shake Shack as we'd heard mixed things, but our bellies led the way. I ordered the SmokeShack - a cheeseburger with smoked bacon, peppers and shack sauce. Naomi went for one of the flat-top dogs and we shared a portion of cheesy fries. The burger was great, bog-standard bun but the bacon and oozing melted cheese made up for it. I would have liked a bit more sauce but I'm just being picky. Fries were good, not amazing but good. I might try and have a go at making my own cheddary/american style gooey, cheese sauce. Maybe with bits of bacon on top... But anyway burgers aside, gossiping in the glorious sunshine with one of the coolest chicks about was superb. Not going to see her until Christmas now, what will I do?! You slurp that strawberry shake gurl! After we could eat no more, we waddled around Covent Garden then said our farewells. The tubes were disgustingly hot, thank goodness for air conditioning on Southern rail! A Cherry Coke to save me from the heat. Overall, Shake Shack was pretty cool. They even have a little section of the menu just for dogs! Seriously. Doggie biscuits for your four-legged best friend. Love that idea!
Best thing by far was my Fifty/Fifty drink - half iced tea, half lemonade - refreshingly delicious. VERDICT: Not the best burgers in London, but a nice little spot for a catch up while you stuff your face. Queue: Visited on a Tuesday at 2pm, almost no queue at all. You can't book. Price: Burger, fries and a drink - around £15. Ambience: Pretty cool, friendly staff, very clean. Would definitely go again.
