Cream the butter and sugar together in a bowl. Then add the four beaten eggs. Gradually add the flour and spoon into two baking tins. Bake for 10-15 minutes, until a knife comes clean out of the middle. Leave the cakes to fully cool. For the filling, whip the cream and spoon a generous amount onto one of the cooled cakes. Spread a good amount of the jam onto the cream, then sandwich the other cake on top. A light dusting of icing sugar and you're done!
